When painting, Cole tries to portray her sense of wonder in the color, grace, infinite-changeability, harmonies and contrasts found in the countryside around her. Having always lived in rural New Hampshire, she observes with great concern the ever-dwindling fields, farms, marshes and forests that she grew up loving and taking for granted. Through her paintings Cole hopes to bring awareness to the irreplaceable beauty of this rural country and open Atlantic shoreline. These everyday scenes of marshes, meadows, forests, and farmland, so filled with sun and shadow, color, powerful contrasts, and overall natural grace, that inspire her so much, are becoming increasingly rare. Cole received her BFA at the University of New Hampshire and continued her education by studying with Clifford Smith and T Allen Lawson. She has been published in books and in articles, has exhibited heavily in New England and participated in Boston International Art Show for many years.
