Timothy McOmber is a fifth-generation Montanan and self-taught painter working at the intersection of Western tradition and contemporary culture. He earned a BFA in drawing and printmaking from Birmingham Southern College, and the influence of screen printing runs through his work: graphic, high-contrast, and visually direct. He grew up steeped in the mythology of the frontier. His grandfather, a farmer and devoted fan of Western films and comics, encouraged that fascination early. The grit, humor, and storytelling of that world never left him, and today it sits alongside classic Americana, music, and mixed media in work that feels rooted and restless.Drawing is where everything starts. It anchors his process and sets the pace for painting that moves on instinct rather than plan. He is open to risk, and when something goes wrong on the canvas, he tends to leave it in. To McOmber, the mistakes tend to become one of the most interesting parts.
