Nancy O. Albert has documented the built environment for over thirty years. A graduate of Trinity College and Wesleyan University, her photographs have been exhibited in museums and galleries in Massachusetts and Connecticut, including the Connecticut Historical Society; the Connecticut Valley Historical Museum and after moving to Charlotte in 2006, at the Light Factory and other area galleries. She was commissioned to document Long River Village, Middletown, CT’s oldest housing project and Long Lane School, also in Middletown, prior to demolition of these historic structures. For Trinity College she curated several exhibitions of historic images and worked with students to document Hartford neighborhoods. She was Photo Editor for the Hog River Journal, a CT regional history magazine, and had photo essays published in Connecticut History and Northeast Magazine. For the past nine years she has been editor and photographer for the Elizabeth Community Association Quarterly newsletter. Her images have been included in the 2011, 2013 and 2015 Carolina’s Got Art juried exhibitions. In 2014 her entire collection of New England images was gifted to Wesleyan University's Special Collections and Archives in Middletown, CT, where it may be viewed by researchers, students and the general public. An exhibition of this work will be mounted in 2016. Her current work includes gelatin silver black and white prints and digital color digital images.
