Minnesota artist Fred Anderson began his painting career in the mid 1980s. A self taught artist, Anderson takes after fellow Minnesota artist Mike Lynch, similarly working from the “mobile atelier” that is his small Honda sedan. Working this way allows Anderson to paint on location in a small scale, inspired by Northern Minnesota landscapes and the small towns near his home town of Cambridge, Minnesota where he lives with his wife, Olga. Anderson’s work is included in numerous Minnesota private and corporate collections including General Mills, Securian Financial and Anderson Windows. Anderson was the recipient of a 2008 McKnight Artist Fellowship grant from the East Central Arts Council. In 2025, Anderson was interviewed on Minnesota Live ahead of his January 2025 exhibition at Groveland Gallery. Fred Anderson on Minnesota Live, January 2025
