Cindy Koopman spent her formative - and somewhat feral - years in southern Minnesota, where her childhood was characterized by exploration of the bluffs and valleys. This experience, along with several summers working with the Minnesota Conservation Corps, deeply influenced her artistic interests, particularly an interest in natural forms. Koopman earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education and a Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking. She has continually expanded her expertise through participation in various art workshops and courses. After completing her graduate studies, she served as a printmaking instructor at the Lacoste School of the Arts in Lacoste, France. Later, she joined the faculty at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minnesota, where she taught until her retirement in 2021. Koopman primarily works in printmaking and drawing, using a blend of traditional and contemporary techniques. In her recent projects, she explores modern technology by incorporating laser engraving into her process. She is actively involved in the printmaking community as a member of the Los Angeles Printmaking Society, the Mid America Print Council, and the Wood Engravers Network. Throughout her career, Koopman has exhibited her work in both national and international venues. Her art is represented in numerous collections.
