Printmaker Paula Schuette Kraemer was born in Madison, WI, raised in Bettendorf, Iowa, and returned to Madison for her adult life. Kraemer studied art history at Vassar College and University of Wisconsin, Madison. She considers the three years she spent in Italy during her 20s as part of her art education, as well. She thoughtfully and joyfully makes art that allows her to comment on life through her work. Highlights of her art career include acquiring her press, working with young MFA grads, and befriending Tandem Press in Madison. She created a large mural for the Comfort Mercy Women's Health Center in Des Moines, IA, an experience she enjoyed for its process and the wonder of seeing her work on such a large scale. Kraemer's work is featured in numerous public and private collections, and many hospital and medical buildings. She hopes her work can bring positivity and smiles to people. Her husband, David, and her dogs are integral to her day-to-day life.
