Thai artist Puritat Deangharm began his art practice within traditional and religious Thai art forms, studying at the historic Silpakorn University in Bangkok. His current work, however, is a fantastical symbiosis between Eastern and Western art styles, with Western figurative and realism meeting Eastern line work and elements of graphic design. Puritat creates layered collages as a base for each artwork, using the visual elements below to inform the themes and character of each portrait subject. His roots in Thai Buddist art styles can be seen in the strong, graphic compositions of each face, as well as the inclusion of ornamental elements. His Western stylings bring in photorealism as well as an urban mural-inspired use of mixed media layered over a large surface.
