I paint primarily en Plein Air because it gets me closer to the landscapes and beaches that I love; it allows me to convey the immediacy of what I am seeing and feeling. And it lets me talk to people as I paint. I seek to preserve and celebrate the unique beauty and character of my home on the Forgotten Coast of Florida (from Panama City to Apalachicola). The area surrounding St. Joseph Bay is incredibly rich in natural beauty. I also try to capture what is unique -- and perhaps not as photogenic -- about the area: the junk cars, RV covers, church on the beach, fishermen, snow birds and summer tourists. Also the quaint, the historic, the funny, and the "bless their heart" moments.
