Corey Scarboro is informed by his diverse interests including cooking, wrestling, animals, and mystical creatures. Scarboro employs a daily journal writing ritual before he begins his practice, and captions related to his entries often make appearances in his artwork. Using pencil or watercolor, he creates colorful ecosystems where form—whether human, animal, magical, or edible—is reimagined. Scarboro’s work presents a world that is both mythical and personal. The characters in his work include dragons, butterflies and sea creatures. He has maintained a studio practice at LAND since its inception in 2005.
