Kat Tatz is a self-made artist from Las Vegas whose whimsical and surreal imagery has captured international attention. Known for her imaginative characters and dreamlike storytelling, Tatz blends technical skill with playful creativity to produce artwork that feels both nostalgic and entirely original. In 2021, she was selected as the first winner of the “Made in Vegas” artist competition hosted by the Park West Gallery, chosen from nearly 500 artists for the diversity and originality of her work. Tatz discovered her love for art early in life, growing up in a creative family of painters and sculptors. One of her earliest memories is learning to draw portraits alongside her father at the kitchen table. She later studied art at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and continued refining her craft through workshops across the country. The vibrant culture of Las Vegas has played a significant role in shaping her visual style. Influences from legendary entertainers such as Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and Wayne Newton, along with the glamour of classic Las Vegas showgirls, often appear in the playful spirit of her work. Working across oils, acrylics, colored pencil, and sculpture, Tatz has developed a distinctive style that merges surrealism with bold color and whimsical narrative. With more than 25 years of artistic experience, she continues to create from her studio while balancing life as a wife and mother of two. Her artwork has appeared on the television series DIY to the Rescue on HGTV and can be found in galleries and venues throughout Las Vegas, including the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian, Tivoli Village, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, and Allegiant Stadium. Artists featured in the stadium’s collection were personally selected by its art director, renowned artist Michael Godard.Tatz’s work continues to gain recognition for its originality and sense of wonder, inviting viewers into imaginative worlds where humor, fantasy, and storytelling collide.
