David Wiggins began painting as a young child, but it wasn’t until he attended the High Mowing Waldorf School in New Hampshire, that he feels his art career began in earnest. He was inspired by a special teacher, Frederick Karl, who believed in him and helped arrange for his first art show at 17 years old. In ’62, David traveled to Europe and studied at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy. From there, he hitchhiked through Europe and spent a year on the island Poros in Greece, where continued his growth as a painter, and eventually hosted his second art show in Athens. He later returned to New Hampshire where he worked as an antiques dealer for many years, while his artwork evolved, being then inspired by the New England folk scene. He became known for his folk murals and spent time working as a partner with renowned muralist, Kevin Paulsen. In the past decade, David’s art has transitioned into an abstract expressionistic style, inspired by his travels, especially his time in Greece, and his spiritual life. David’s work has been shown in galleries across New England and New York City.
