Miguel Ángel Polick is a visual artist based in Lima, Peru. He studied Visual Arts at the Faculty of Art and Design of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, where he was awarded the Adolfo Winternitz Prize on two occasions (2010–2011). In 2013, he undertook undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona. His artistic practice focuses on the circulation of images and mass-consumed cultural objects within everyday urban contexts, examining the ways in which they are materialized, consumed, and resignified in environments shaped by informality. His work addresses the material and social conditions that shape access to these cultural goods, as well as the ways in which global imaginaries are embedded and transformed within local economies. Working primarily through painting, Polick uses photographic documentation of the city as a point of departure to reconstruct architectural surfaces, commercial façades, and fragments of the urban landscape. From this archive, he develops paintings that operate as trompe-l’œil, reproducing doors, shop windows, and walls while exploring the coexistence of different temporalities, aesthetics, and systems of value within a single environment. In his work, architecture functions both as a frame and as an object of study, allowing him to examine surfaces as sites where traces of use, wear, adaptation, and desire accumulate. His practice reflects on non-official circuits of cultural circulation and the ways in which they shape everyday experiences of consumption and visuality. Recent exhibitions include the 7th Edition of The Wrong Biennale, Pavilion “Avatar Reveal”, Linda de La Art Center (Moscow, Russia, 2025–2026); Esto No es Fanart, Alianza Francesa (Lima, Peru, 2025); Now What?! Painting Edition, Galería John Harriman (Lima, Peru, 2025); Negocios / Umbrales, Galería Now (Lima, Peru, 2024); Cooperative Quest, ZIL Cultural Center (Moscow, Russia, 2024); and the 5th Edition of the ICPNA Contemporary Art Prize, Espacio Juan Pablo Heeren (Lima, Peru, 2022). He was awarded First Prize at the VI Concurso Nacional de Narrativa Gráfica (Lima, Peru, 2026) and was a finalist in the V Premio ICPNA Arte Contemporáneo (Lima, Peru, 2022).
