Sabine Struycken is the driving force behind the Royal Blue Collection: a unique series of ceramic apples, decorated with Delft Blue patterns. Her ideas, translated in design and hand painting, evoke nostalgia in connoisseurs of traditional Delft blue, yet have a modern twist. Whereas Delft blue patterns originally cover the entire object and are applied symmetrically, the apples in the Royal Blue Collection stand out for their assymmetry and unfilled tessellation. The Royal Blue Collection was previously exhibited at the Hermitage in Amsterdam, and at art fairs in Singapore, New York and Paris.
