Artist Biography Liz Lane is a nationally known painter and works in her studio in Birmingham, Alabama. Lane graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in fashion design. After a stint in NYC, Lane moved back to Alabama, realizing her need to be surrounded by nature, which is an unending source of inspiration in her art. When Lane isn't in the studio, she's often with her husband, Chase, and two kids exploring their city and the world. Artist Statement Lane explores the energy behind nature, humanity and movement in her abstracts. She pushes back against traditional linear narrative, and believes meaningful stories are often found without traditional order. Lane uses abstraction on canvas as her primary language. She was diagnosed with dyslexia at seven. Although dyslexia has many challenges, Lane believes it can provide a visual sixth sense and aids in her ability to understand abstract concepts and pattern recognition. She also uses empathy between human relationships as a driver for many of her abstracts, and sometimes the abstraction becomes figurative.
