In my professional life I am a Partner at FFA Architecture and Interiors. I have spent my career primarily as a lead designer on a range of projects from civic and higher education to corporate office and commercial projects. It is the love of craft and seeking the balance and tension in form making that has brought me to exploration in wood sculpture. In any endeavor worth pursuing there needs to be a dialogue with the material and the explorer to tell a successful story. If lucky, one can find a balance between intent and result. Even though sculpture can reside in static posture, movement can be realized if one is listening, learning and being open to the possibility of more dynamic forms. With hope something new can be found that is not bound by the original limitations of that initial strict silhouette that the material first provides. This is the journey I love to follow in the creation of things and the drive that compels me to continue into the next opportunity. –Edward Running, AIA, LEED AP BD+C
