Maureen's work explores themes of the sacred, the symbolic, and the unseen. Her birds (often described as otherworldly or angelic) function as quiet guardians, existing somewhere between the spiritual and the everyday. Rather than depicting nature directly, these forms act as metaphors and archetypes, inviting reflection and a sense of presence that is both intimate and expansive. Maureen's early life as part of a U.S. Army family took her across multiple states and to Germany. She holds a BFA in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University and continued her studies at The New School and Dieu Donné Papermill in New York City. Before relocating to Cape Cod in 2010, her work was exhibited in group and juried shows throughout the U.S. and Europe. Her exhibition history includes solo shows at Artspace in Richmond, Virginia, and at The Provincetown Commons, where she has also participated in numerous group exhibitions. She has been featured at the Garage Gallery and Adam Peck Gallery in Provincetown, and her work has appeared in multiple exhibitions at both the Provincetown Art Association and Museum and the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum.
