Jaroslav Prošek (b.1986, Beroun, Czech Republic), is glass artist who works in Česká Lípa, in Northern Bohemia, a region renowned for its rich glassmaking tradition. He specializes in creating unique glass sculptures and also incorporates materials such as wood, stainless steel, and marble into his artistic work. Unlike many traditional artists, his path into art was unconventional and developed through years of technical and manual experience. After completing secondary school, Prošek worked in technical departments of major Czech factories, where he refined his craftsmanship, precision, and problem-solving skills. His artistic direction changed significantly when he joined Crystal Caviar, a company producing luxury chandeliers and glass sculptures. There, he discovered the connection between technical perfection and artistic beauty, inspiring him to begin designing his own glass sculptures. Early in his career, he also studied basic glassmaking techniques in the atelier of renowned Czech artist Vlastimil Beránek, whose influence can still be seen in Prošek’s elegant, nature-inspired forms. Prošek creates his sculptures using techniques such as kiln casting, grinding, and engraving, carefully selecting each method according to the desired shape and design. His inspiration comes primarily from nature, the sea, yachting, and everyday objects, often beginning with small wooden models before transforming them into finished glass artworks. Although his artistic career is relatively recent, he has already established a strong reputation within the Czech Republic and is gradually gaining recognition in the international glass art scene.
