Bill Baily has been painting for over six decades, developing a practice rooted in observation, discipline, and a lifelong commitment to the act of painting. Over the years, he studied with notable artists including Nelson Sandgren, Charles Mulvey, Perry Acker, Judy Morris, and George Hamilton, influences that helped shape his approach to composition and color. Baily has presented thirteen solo exhibitions along with numerous group shows throughout the Portland area and the Pacific Northwest. His work has been included in the annual Northwest Watercolor Society exhibition in Seattle, the Artists of Oregon exhibition at the Portland Art Museum, and multiple biennial exhibitions with the Watercolor Society of Oregon. His paintings are held in a number of corporate and public collections, including Sunriver Lodge and Condominiums, Georgia-Pacific, Wells Fargo Bank, Bank of America, Freightliner, Good Samaritan Hospital, Boise Cascade, Nabisco, The Lloyd Corporation, and The Allison Inn & Spa. Baily’s subject matter spans landscapes, seascapes, and still life, with his fruit and vegetable compositions becoming a recognizable and enduring focus within his body of work. In recent years, he has expanded into acrylic abstraction, continuing to explore new directions while maintaining a strong foundation in watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media. His work reflects both a seasoned hand and an ongoing curiosity, balancing tradition with continued experimentation.
