CARLOS YAGI b. 1976, Lima, Peru Carlos Yagi is a prolific international artist, best known for his large format colourful abstract paintings. In Lima, he attended the Taller Federico Esquerre (1993-1994) and Universidad Católica Facultad de Artes (1995-1996 and 1998-1999). Among his selected recognitions, he was awarded a scholarship by the Byam Shaw School of Art in London, currently University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins - School of Art and Design where he completed his post-graduate studies. During his time in London, he transitioned his art towards art installations using recyclable materials and found objects. Yagi has exhibited his work at the Centro Cultural Ricardo Palma in Lima, Perú, the Festival de Cine Latinoamericano, where he presented his massive scale installation “Amores Perros”. and various shows in London, Lima-Perú and United States. In the last 6 years, he has transitioned back to abstract painting. His latest art series expresses a strong sense of urban landscape, and a balanced use of bold colours and composition. Inspired by urban culture and music, Yagi’s work has the energy and rhythm to bring to life and transform any space. Carlos Yagi currently lives and works between Lima, Perú and New Jersey / Philadelphia / New York, USA.
