John Paul Berry was raised in Reno, Nevada with an adventurous spirit to life. He spent his time chasing local jackrabbits through the sagebrush by day, and by night being mesmerized by the local carnivals and fairs. He uses inspiration from his memories of clowns and brightly colored themes to interpret his current state and the state of society. Through this inspiration his art reflects bright colors and spontaneous lines that emerge beneath layers of paint to create a strong emotion within the viewer. Alongside thought provoking titles his paintings, like poetry, utilize sharp juxtapositions to laugh at the absurdities and irionies of life. John focus on abstract styles of painting. He creates a dialogue of the push and pull nature life brings from the seen and unseen, the said and unsaid, and the circus that plays out in front of us. His space is purposeful, as it leaves space for the viewers unique interpretation.
