Kate Dervishi (b. 1987, Detroit) is a Canadian-American artist living and working in Berlin. Her painting practice is an ongoing exploration of female consciousness, often centering on the female nude, which she uses as a device to capture moods and feelings related to our epoch. After receiving a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2009, she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to Berlin. Her video work, produced during graduate studies at the Kunsthochschule für Medien in Cologne, has been exhibited at the B3 Biennale in Frankfurt, the Videonale Bonn, Cine Cologne, and NADA Cologne. She is the recipient of a painting grant from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation, and a literary grant from the Canada Council for the Arts. Her short stories have been included in The New Quarterly and ROOM Magazine. Full portfolio available on request.
