Kate McConnell is a visual artist living and working in Northampton, MAand Provincetown, MA.Born and raised in New Wilmington, PA provided Kate with an enduring respect for sweeping agrarian landscapes, and love of the outdoors. Adding to these natural influences was living among the heritage trees in Washington D.C. for many years, and returning to the incomparable vistas of Cape Cod, MA. where Kate resides part time and has painted for over 35 years. Working in oils, gouache and ink, Kate examines elements in the landscape with spirited freshness. She enjoys the immediacy of plein air painting as well as reinterpreting outdoor impressions in the studio. Before painting full-time, Kate was a noted book designer at Time Warner and Smithsonian Press, and was Adjunct Faculty at the Corcoran College of Art & Design for over a decade. She is guest instructor of painting at American University’s OLLI program in Washington. She was a founding member of Chevy Chase Artists, and Capitol Hill Art League, D.C. and is a current member of Sail Loft Collective, Provincetown, MA.Her work is collected in the United States and Europe.
