John Pundt is a Charleston-based visual artist working across screen printing, graphic design, murals, mixed media, street art, and collaborative community projects. Known for bold imagery and an underground aesthetic, his work is shaped by graffiti culture, punk design, and contemporary street art. These influences are filtered through a meditative, layer-by-layer printmaking process. His work has appeared in galleries, public murals, live art events, film, television, and collaborative exhibitions. Pundt has long been connected to Charleston’s independent arts movement and artist collectives. His studio, “Prokhaus,” takes its name from a humble typo in 2001 ironically reflects creative troubleshooting and colorful accidents. Rooted in the intersection of Southern identity, urban expression, DIY culture, and community-driven art, his work blends layered textures, graphic symbolism, collage, and vivid color. His prints have been featured in Lucky Disasters by David Carson and Yo! What Happened to Peace? (2002), curated by Jon Carr, which catalogs over 220 artists. He has also participated in traveling exhibitions such as 100 Decibels at the Museum of Design Atlanta (2005), showcasing gig poster art.
