Artist Statement
As I continue my investigation of the underground world, I learn new things about people. I roam through subways with my sketchbook and camera to record the psychology of the overlooked. With my works I want to express my fascination with the modern human and contemporary city life. I paint people how they are studying their gestures, facial expressions, fashions, nuances and mannerisms that describe their psyche. I observe my surroundings and paint what most impresses me. My goal is not to replicate photography, rather, to instill in the viewer senses of empathy and wonderment, ofr the subject. My realism derives from my love of honesty, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
