She begins with what the eye can’t quite name — a figure emerging from texture, a face half-dissolved in color. Eliza Geddes paints at the edge of recognition, where the iconic becomes abstract and the abstract becomes unmistakably alive.Eliza Geddes is an abstract and figurative painter based in Locust Valley, New York, working primarily in house paint on canvas. Her process is built on layering and repetition — applying paint with foam brushes, putty knives, and unconventional tools to build multidimensional surfaces rich with shape, mark, and texture. Geddes holds an MA in Art from New York University. Her work has been exhibited at Findlay Galleries, Mulry Fine Art, Franklin Riehlman Fine Art, Holster Projects in London, and in multiple solo exhibitions at J. Mackey Gallery in East Hampton. A favored artist among prominent interior designers, her paintings have appeared in Elle Décor, Cottages & Gardens, London’s Matchbox Magazine, and Flavorpill, and are held in private collections across the country — including the homes of A-list celebrities and a commissioned portrait for a world-renowned leader in finance. Her work is also on permanent view at The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach. Eliza Geddes is represented by J. Mackey Gallery, East Hampton, New York.
