INTRODUCTION TO MY WORK: Painting is a way to express my feelings by use of colors. A need that comes from the depths of my soul. At first it is not rational, but by the time I learned to understand this energy flowing inside me. Like many other artists do, I have always painted and drawn but only in recent years I have done it constantly, learning from my mistakes, trying different techniques and materials, looking for a personal language in which to recognize myself and through which communicate something to the viewer. Painting in my opinion is like poetry, a desire for creativity, for expression in this case by means of color. By the time I have noticed a personal growth both in technique and in the way to express myself and in the ability to give shape to my ideas. A few years ago I began to paint scenes related to sport and movement above all for the desire to express vitality. The desire for motion and energy through colored brushstrokes. I began to paint my first running horses, as the still image of a sport scene reinterpreted through my painting, gave me a feeling of liberation. A sensation linked to an attempt to reach beauty, seen as a moment of pause and reflection, a moment without space or time in which to find myself in the contemplation of the artwork. The source of inspiration for my images are therefore the Olympic Games and athletic competitions but linked to a common goal which is to celebrate the athletic effort and the beauty of the athletes as if they were superheroes. I always found a strong analogy between the sacrifice of athletic training and that of the artistic growth: sacrifice as a moment of personal growth. From this love for sport seen from an artistic and not from a competitive point of view, as a moment of freedom of the vital energy, I started to paint swimming themed scenes. My love for water and for swimming, for the silence of underwater and for blue, started as a swimmer while I was enjoying the pleasure of this sport felt as a moment of recollection and meditation. I love to connect swimming with the female body and her amazing grace, where the swimmers become almost mythical characters while moving with their sinuous shapes into the water. Observing the mystery of their faces hidden by goggles and headphones while swimming. In this last period of lockdown I have explored a new theme related to nature. It is a moment of contemplation that led me to represent the silent trees lightened by a theatrical, almost mystical light coming from above. It is in these scenes that I love to depict a moment of intimacy with nature where light and color painted in different shades, become the leading actor together with the tree, seen as a symbol of a silent nature that is going to born again. SHORT BIOGRAPHY Born in Rimini, Italy, on the northern Adriatic Coast, I spent the first years of my life between Rimini, Milan (where my father worked) and Bergamo-Italy. After graduating at the School of Languages, I moved back to Milan to get my degree in Industrial Design at the Polytechnic School of Design. Since my childhood I always felt like I had to express my thoughts and feeling by drawing or paint them, and by the time I let my feelings express by means of colors. But I never had a clear idea of what I was going to paint even if I was looking for it. WORK. As a fond of graphic design and illustration, after graduating in Milan,I started to work with a motorbike designer, drawing technical drawings and exploded views of the motorcycle as an apprentice. After my military service in Rome in the Air Force, I came back to Rimini and started to work in an advertising agency as a graphic designer and visualizer. By the time I started to work as a freelance illustrator especially for advertising, as my attitudes and my versatility, allowed me to move from technical illustration to botanical, cartoon or other kind of needs according to the request of my clients. By the time I opened my Graphic design and illustration Studio in Rimini working with my team. RESTART. In 2007, after many years dedicated to my family, my work and in raising my two little boys Federico and Francesco, I started to feel like I had to keep doing what I was doing years before: create images by myself for my pleasure and to express my love for art regardless of a commercial request. So I started to feel fascinated by sport scenes, or horse racing, using strong colors and powerful brushstrokes. Among sports, I fell in love with swimming and blue and I started to need painting artworks related to water and swimming. MEDIUM AND TECHNIQUE. As a former illustrator I tried different techniques in my works, from airbrush to pastels or inks and watercolors, always on paper or cardboard. In my paintings I mostly use acrylics and oils on canvas or wood panel. Studio. I live in the country close to Rimini and there I have my artist’s studio. In these last years I started to show my works in little exhibition or Fairs and I started to have my personal satisfaction in finding people’s appreciation and also started to sell my artworks especially in the United States through Saatchi Art website. I discovered that despite painting I needed to focus in my artistic passion also writing personal reflections about the way I do my art. My favourite and personal motto is “Art helps to express the inexpressible, together with an intimate desire to achieve beauty and share it with the observer”.
