ARTIST BIO Lida was born in San Antonio, Texas and spent much of her waking life between Bexar and Brazoria County on the beautiful San Bernard River. The juxtaposition of busy city life versus the quiet hum of country living instilled in her a unique perspective of the world. She graduated from Brazosport Christian School and went on to study Studio Art at Washington and Lee University in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia where she graduated with a B.A. in Studio Art and a minor in Art History. After college, Lida found herself living in Jackson Hole painting amongst the Tetons. Inspiration came from the dramatic landscape of Northwest Wyoming where western nature offered a new perspective to her work. After meeting her now husband, she splits her time between Texas and Wyoming. ARTIST STATEMENT "I create paintings and mixed media works inspired by the landscapes and stories of the American West. Whether working in oil, watercolor, or mixed media, I am drawn to subjects that invite a second look and encourage questions rather than easy answers. As an artist, adventurer, environmentalist, and mother, I am continually inspired by the natural world and our relationship to it. The Hill Country and West Texas landscapes inspire, while the Wyoming mountains humble. "My goal is to share a way of seeing that sparks curiosity and challenges assumptions. I hope my work encourages viewers to slow down, look more closely, and consider familiar ideas from a fresh perspective." – Lida Steves Plummer
