Jeanne M. Connolly is an American mixed media and textile artist based in Dénia, Spain. Working between painting and textile, she creates richly layered works that combine pigment, thread, reclaimed fabrics, embroidery, couching, patchwork, tufting, and stitched construction. Inspired by Mediterranean light, botanical forms, weathered surfaces, and the histories embedded within materials, Connolly explores transformation as both a visual language and a creative philosophy. Her practice is rooted in the belief that materials, processes, and stories can continue evolving rather than ending. Through acts of reconstruction and layering, discarded fragments are reimagined into contemporary works that celebrate growth, change, and renewal. Central to her work is an expanding concept of repair. Rather than restoring materials to their original condition, Connolly uses repair as a creative act—one that allows textiles, pigments, and found materials to become something entirely new. Thread functions as both drawing and structure, while accumulated layers reveal evidence of time, process, and transformation. Working intuitively, she embraces chance as an active collaborator. Pigments flow, materials react, and stitched interventions alter the surface in unexpected ways. The resulting works occupy a space between painting, textile, and sculptural relief, where construction and reconstruction remain visible within the finished piece. Connolly has exhibited throughout Spain in solo and group exhibitions, including the Torre del Comendador in El Verger, Fundació Baleària exhibitions, Art al Vent, the Biennal de València Ciutat Vella Oberta, and a public art installation in Xàbia. Her work has been recognized internationally, including selection as a finalist in the Tartget Painting Prize. She is a resident artist at the Escola Municipal de Plàstica Experimental A. Vives in Gata de Gorgos, Spain, where she continues to develop a contemporary practice centered on material transformation, textile innovation, and the evolving possibilities of repair as creation.
