My ceramic work celebrates joy, movement, and luminosity through organic form, color, and surface. Handbuilt vessels often draw inspiration from flowers, landscapes, water, and other forms found in nature. I am continually drawn to the beauty, energy, and sense of wonder found in the natural world. Rather than following a rigid plan, each piece evolves through a balance of intention and discovery, embracing irregularity, movement, and the expressive possibilities of clay. The vessel form particularly resonates with me because it exists at the intersection of function and sculpture. Organic curves, folds, and undulating edges can feel almost figurative—alive with movement and growth. Originally trained as a painter, I approach these forms as three-dimensional canvases for glaze. Layered, painterly surfaces encourage color to move, pool, break, and interact during firing, creating moments of luminosity, depth, and unexpected transformation. What continues to excite me is the balance between control and chance. The kiln transforms carefully considered choices into something new, often revealing effects that could never have been fully anticipated. It is within that space between intention and surprise that the work comes alive. Through these pieces, I hope to create moments of joy, calm, and wonder—a celebration of beauty, curiosity, and the small moments of discovery that emerge when intention meets surprise.
