Matthew Gilbert is a sculptor and textile artist raised in Brooklyn and currently based in New York’s Hudson Valley. They received their BA in film studies and studio art from Wesleyan University (Middletown, CT). Their work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, with notable exhibitions at the Dorsky Museum of Art, Wassaic Project, NADA LUNCH, and Outsider Art Fair. They have held residencies across the United States, including at the UCross Foundation in Wyoming and Monson Arts in Maine. Gilbert was awarded the Emerging Artist Fellowship from Ann Street Gallery in 2024 and the Pocantico Prize from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund in 2026. Their work has been featured in the Village Voice, Two Coats of Paint, and Impulse Magazine.
