Benoit Lupi, born in 1989 is a French contemporary painter from Gordes in the Luberon. From a young age, he worked alongside his father restoring old buildings, where stonework and historic materials helped form his sensitivity to texture, memory, and construction. Lupi’s acrylic works on canvas are shaped by luminous color, the poetry of Provencal landscapes, and the use of gold leaf. Creating radiant horizons that feel both intimate and expansive inspired by the artisanal heritage of his childhood. After several professional and entrepreneurial experiences, Lupi’s painting practice grew and became central to his life. His artistic path developed at the Hotel d’Astier in Forcalquier, where he trained with his mentor and worked in proximity to established artists. Recognized early as a young talent, he went on to exhibit in Aix-en-Provence, Paris, and internationally. Working with acrylic and gold leaf on canvas, Lupi creates musical and romantic surfaces that shift with light. The gold leaf becomes more than decoration, acting as a point of warmth and reflection within the composition. The paintings carry the softness of the Provencal landscape while opening into a more dreamlike, contemplative space. Through layered color, texture, and glowing accents, Lupi’s series “Mon Horizon” celebrates optimism and freedom with each golden horizon becoming a space for emotion, gentleness and escape. The paintings evoke feelings of optimism, stillness, and escape within a world where the luminous surfaces and quiet expanses of color offer a sense of joy and calm.
