Blair Atherholt – Artist Biography Blair Atherholt (b. 1992) produces contemporary realist oil paintings centered on still life subjects, working from his Lancaster, Pennsylvania studio. His paintings examine everyday objects through sustained observation and technical precision, transforming familiar items into subjects that command visual attention. Each work reflects his commitment to measured execution and careful study of form, light, and material qualities. Between 2011 and 2016, Atherholt completed the four-year program at the Schuler School of Fine Arts in Baltimore, Maryland, followed by an additional post-graduate year. The atelier-style curriculum emphasized techniques and disciplines derived from Old Masters, particularly the approaches of Hans Schuler Sr. and Jacques Maroger. This classical foundation informs his current practice, which balances traditional methods with contemporary subject matter and compositional strategies. He is represented by select galleries across the United States including Abend Gallery. Recognition for his work includes the Gold Medal in the Oil Painters of America 2024 National Juried Salon and second place in the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society 2024 Small Works Show. In January 2025, the Art Renewal Center awarded him both a Purchase Award and Honorable Mention in the Still Life Category at their 17th International Salon.
