Thibault Jandot has been working under the name “Coeur” (Heart) since his graffiti period in 2007 in France. After three-years studying applied arts, Coeur moved on to oil painting on canvas. The 29-year old artist delivers an offbeat and sometimes ironic vision of the relationship between humans and animals. In his work, you can find the gestural freedom that is almost brutal in graffitis as well as the more technical touch from an academic style. It's a kind of contemporary animal painting. When asked why he paints portraits of animals, Thibault Jandot replies it’s the result of a long process: “Animals kind of became obvious, I can’t exactly remember why, I’ve always been very sensitive to the emotions they display.”
