Won Lee sculpts in Canada, Mexico, and China. He consistently focuses on the containment of space, and fractured catastrophic figures. When Lee is not focusing on his practice, he lectures on Deleuzian Aesthetics and other Postmodern art theories. He incorporates these theories into his sculptures. As a sculptor, Won Lee primarily works with bronze and occasionally with stone; His main focus is on the human figure with which he works with unrestrained vigor and self-confidence.Lee belongs to the generation of figurative sculptors who have returned to traditional material, such as hard stone and bronze, in order to express the human condition in the postmodern age. Recognizing the conditions of anxiety that foreground loss of spiritual contact, Lee's aesthetic impulse is to return to the Earth, to nature and to the shamanistic traditions found in his homeland, particular to the tip of the peninsula, the most traditional region of Korea, in the area of Jeollanam-do.
