Jan Rattia is a Venezuelan-American artist exploring ideas about belonging, representation and otherness through contemporary photography. His installations present unresolved personal and cultural narratives that combine bodies, objects, and nature as commentary on the history of the medium, identity, and a fluid concept of home and place. His work has been exhibited around the country, including Art Miami, the International Center of Photography, Philadelphia Photo Arts Center, Atlanta Contemporary, LOW Museum, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, among many others. His acclaimed debut solo show, Tease, was exhibited at Bridgette Meyer Gallery in Philadelphia in 2013, ClampArt in New York City in 2016 and at The Houston Center for Photography in 2018. Rattia presented L A N D I N G S at Cindy Lisica Gallery in 2018 and continues to exhibit and curate in New York. Rattia earned an MFA in Photography after attending ICP-Bard and Pratt Institute, where he has been teaching since 2021. He is based in Brooklyn and Chicago.
