Raymond Dorleans was born on April 2, 1947, in Hinche near the remote eastern border of Haiti. He left the Dumarsais Estime High School after the third year to go to Port-au-Prince in 1966. He began painting in 1969 with Edgard Brierre (Brother of Murat Brierre) and had his first exhibit in 1973. His work is characterized by dark blue green landscapes with bright figures. “A landscape artist, Dorleans is a master of airy perspectives” (Peintres Haitiens by Gerald Alexis). Many private art collectors own his work as well as art galleries and museums.Dorleans passed away in the year 2000.
