Gervais Emmanuel Ducasse (G.E. Ducasse) was born in Haiti in 1903 and died in 1988. A self-taught Haitian artist and leading figure of the Haitian primitive art movement, Ducasse is celebrated for his poetic and authentic depictions of Haitian life. His paintings capture the traditions, culture, and everyday rhythms of Haiti with sincerity, warmth, and remarkable storytelling. Through scenes of daily life and community, he transformed ordinary moments into timeless works that reflect the spirit and identity of the Haitian people. Ducasse's paintings have been exhibited internationally and are represented in important collections, including the Musée d'Art Nader, the Musée d'Art Haïtien du Collège Saint-Pierre, and the Brooklyn Museum in New York.
