Arijac (Harry Jacques, b. 1937, Gonaïves, Haiti) is a Haitian painter known for his mastery of the encaustic technique. He studied architecture through the International Correspondence School before turning to painting. In 1965, he presented his first works at the Haitian-American Institute in Port-au-Prince, followed by exhibitions at the French Institute in 1967 and participation in the São Paulo Biennial. His work was later exhibited in several New York shows.Arijac learned the encaustic method from Haitian artist Sacha Thébaud (Tebo), working with a mixture of beeswax, turpentine, and pigments to create luminous layered surfaces. The technique, used since antiquity, allows Arijac to combine architectural structure with subtle symbolism inspired by Haitian culture and landscape.
