Felix Jean was born in Anse-a-Vau, Haiti, in 1929 and died in 1978. He started at the Centre d'Art in 1950 and studied under Pierre Monosiet. He participated in all major exhibitions of the Centre d'Art in Europe, the U.S., and South America. His work has been featured on Barbancourt Rhum labels over the years. His subjects are often colorful markets filled with people with heavily outlined leaves or foliage.
