Haitian cut-steel sculptor Damien Paul was born in 1941 in Drouillard. Paul helped his parents to farm until 1968, when he took up metal-working with Janvier Louis Juste near Croix-des-Bouquets. Paul joined the Art Center as a sculptor in 1969. Fascinated by color, he became a painter while continuing his consistently successful work in cut iron. His favorite subject is Vodou.
