Kurtis Brand's work follows the ebb and flow of his travels over the years; living in an RV and practicing in Zen Centers across America, having children in NYC, traveling through Central America. Brand's strongest influence is his meditation practice and its associated rituals. In much of his portfolio, you see the torture of human suffering working its way to the surface, seeking answers to find clarity and realization. There is a reality to the experiences found in the art made. Each piece illuminates a part of an experience brought into view. Brand came to the art community post career, although he showed much in his youth post-University. His focus in his later years of life is to showcase his work through crafting unique exhibitions and selling directly to collectors.
