Lori Putnam's paintings are her personal response to her subjects. She focuses on patterns, rhythms, and color harmonies found naturally in our surroundings. Known for her intelligent use of color and energetic mark making, her paintings take on the life of whatever she paints.Prior to becoming a full-time painter, Putnam owned a successful graphic design company for 13 years. Early, fine art development truly began in 2008 when she and her husband “pulled up roots,” sold their belongings, and moved to Italy for an intensive, 8-month period of self-study. During this time, the artist created nearly 200 sketches and completed works, honing her sense of observation, color, and composition, and experimenting with her medium. Upon returning to the U.S., continued work, influence, and encouragement from artist friends contributed much to the artist's growth and success.Art of the West, Western Art Collector, Southwest Art, Plein air Magazine, The Artist Magazine, American Art Collector, and Fine Art Connoisseur have generously shared Putnam’s work and career with their readers. Her work has received top awards from the Oil Painters of America, Salmagundi Club New York, The American Impressionist Society, Portrait Society of America, and in numerous plein air events.
