Cindy Shih is a visual artist who lives and works in San Francisco. Her work starts with a narrative, usually starting with writing, which evolves to imagery that is strongly rooted in lost traditions and techniques, including fresco, traditional Chinese ink painting, and realism. At three years old, Cindy immigrated from Taiwan to Los Angeles with her family. Her status as a “half-immigrant” informs her work to this day. Although she was recognized early for her “Proficiency in Art” as far back as Kindergarten, she spent the greater part of her formative years trying to avoid actually being an artist. In 2012, Cindy gave up her career in Tech to pursue Art full-time. In 2014, her mixed media piece received “Best of Show” at the annual MFA/BFA show at the deYoung Museum.
