Henri-Robert Bresil was born in Gonaives, Haiti, on September 19, 1952, and died on April 1999. He started to paint in 1973 as a world-renowned painter. After receiving the Ispan-Unesco prize in 1981, he exhibited in all the major galleries in Haiti, and abroad in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Japan, France, Italy, and Switzerland. Bresil's art was indeed appreciated by art lovers and collectors, and has been praised in the New York Times, Miami Herald, and Hostess Magazine, among other publications." Bresil's sharp use of greens hues give density to his country scenes." (Gerald Alexis in his book "Peintres Haitiens")
