I am an Arizona native. I grew up in Scottsdale running around with bare feet and a bathing suit all summer. I jumped fully into to teaching art on a whim, and stuck with it for 12 years ages K-12. My teaching emphasis was focused mainly on mixed media art as well as modern art. The last part of my teaching career was spent teaching children and adults with Autism. I have since changed from teaching to working full-time serving the Autism community as well as working part-time as an artist. My artwork reflects escaping into the unknown where the possibilities for peace and tranquility await. Most of my imagery has to do with flying or flyovers, as I call them. I am always intrigued with the possibilities of a never-ending aerial landscape, exploring and wandering within the mountains and valleys as an animal would do in nature. I am obsessed with the properties of water and spent endless hours in my pool growing up in Scottsdale. In contrast to the water, the sky is also an important force in my work. Experiencing the monsoon season always offered a welcome change in scenery with cool tones of grey and blues that I include in my sky series. My artwork allows the viewer to escape into each painting, looking for traveled routes or a secluded oasis. The extension of my work has always been to creatively investigate all the options of escape and exploration.
