Tracey Adams' abstract paintings combine large fields of rich color with rhythmic lines and organic shapes. These contrasting elements are balanced in a range of compositional structures, reflecting her interests in musical patterns, rhythyms, and what she calls "a sense of performance." Working in encaustic, Adams builds up layers of melted wax to create surfaces of luminous, saturated color. Her paintings are densely worked, the process for her providing space for constant exploration and renegotiation.
