First the basics; I am a 64 year old novice, living in Toronto with my wife and son (part time). All family members, including myself, have a strong artistic or creative sense - even the dog. While I have painted intermittently since adolescence, only since late 2004 have I become passionate about my art. Surprisingly, this zeal was kick-started during a seminar on how to operate a consulting business. During the self evaluation sessions, the course leader often asked when we were going to embrace the challenge of our individual dreams - If not now, when? I hold an engineering degree and over the past 30 years have worked a varied career from Piping design to Construction to Plant Manager to Engineering Manager to Consultant and finally Fine Artist. (its tough figuring out what you want to be when you grow up!) 2005 was my first effort at selling my art and was positive enough to convince me to continue. I have attended a number of juried outdoor and indoor art shows, including the Riverdale Art Walk, Queen West Art Crawl, the Beach, Cabbagetown (Toronto), Minden Artisan Festival, Haliburton Arts and Crafts and Bon Echo, just to name a few. Since then highlights include the Western Showcase Art Auction at the Calgary Stampede, acceptance into numerous juried shows, a solo show at the Algonquin Park Visitor Centre Gallery, the Toronto Art Expo, numerous group shows and I have been selected to be a participating artist at the McMichael Gallery in Kleinberg for the Volunteers Autumn Art Sale for the past 5 years (three times as one of the top ten sellers). My art is now in private and corporate collections and homes from Australia to Europe and across Canada from British Columbia to the maritimes.
