Self-taught Michelle Tholen learned to paint studying concepts of Rothko and Pollock at the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco and New York. The artist grew up in the Northern California and resides in San Francisco. Educated and working as an accountant, the artist found fulfillment creating art on the side. Following her passion, “Color & Form” was the first step into the art world. Michelle left a career in public accounting when she realized that audit and tax and didn’t satisfy her creative desires. She recognized her artistic talent and as a self-taught artist specializes in contemporary modern art that is driven with a passion for design and creativity. Seventeen years later as a full-time artist, she has created hundreds of works, curated numerous shows, and exhibits through-out the bay area. Inspired by Turner, Rothko and Pollock, Tholen’s work is a reflection.
