(b.1979) In paintings and drawings of interiors and landscapes, Leah combines direct observation with memory and emotion, hoping to convey an authentic sense of place. Today, she and her husband Anthony, who is also a fine artist, live and work in their home studio, Ani Art Academy Waichulis, in Bear Creek Township, Pennsylvania. In 2009, they created their first instructional DVD, The Drawing Clinic: First Steps. In the years that followed, they worked together to complete several more comprehensive instructional programs: The Language of Drawing and The Language of Painting. In 2017, they launched an artistic community forum, Smartermarx, that provides resources to aspiring artists around the globe. Every year, Leah participates in several gallery shows across the country and teaches technical skills to other artists. Leah, Anthony, and the students at Ani Art Academy Waichulis continue to work together daily and have become vital to each other’s creative process. Leah Waichulis has been featured in two North Light Books: Strokes of Genius: The Best of Drawing and Strokes of Genius: Light and Shadow. Her artwork has been included in national and international publications such as American Artist, Artist's Magazine, Drawing, International Artist, and featured on the cover of Art Calendar. She has received awards from Artist's Magazine, American Women Artists, Salon International, and International Artist's Magazine. Leah Waichulis graduated cum laude with an Associate’s Degree in Painting and Illustration and completed the apprenticeship program at The Waichulis Studio. Leah Waichulis’ work continues to evolve with her ongoing study of fine art.
