Growing up, Matt DeFrain was always torn between graphic design and fine art. This juxtaposition, along with his talent, garnered him attention from the Downtown Development Authority in Flint, Michigan. Putting his renegade graffiti to good use, the city retrained Matt to spray paint murals on their waterfront amphitheater. Matt went on to graduate from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan with a degree in Graphic Design. He has won various awards over the years for his creative excellence. Matt works full-time as the creative director at an integrated product-to-market design firm in Atlanta, Georgia. In his spare time, he continues to create mixed–media collages by combining his formal design thinking with materials such as documents, spray paint, and various transfer methods.
